Fibre Arts Festival
17th 18th & 19th of November, 2018
Sunshine Coast Hinterland
Luke & Alice are behind the festival and are a husband and wife team. Alice has a passion for traditional and contemporary Maori art as well as raranga (weaving) and has been actively involved in learning and sharing for the past 15 years while Luke has been involved in producing and managing events in both NZ and Australia. They have experience and passion in creating events that inspire and have been interested in creating a Fibre Arts event for the past few years. So, they're very excited to be bringing it to life!
The festival is not only going to be a celebration of fibre arts and artists but also a gathering of like minded individuals who want to come together to create, share, nurture and connect with others. We're not just creating an event, but we're designing an experience you'll remember for a very long time.
This gathering will run for three days and two nights in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland. The site is just over 2 hours drive from the Gold Coast and 1 1/2 hours from Brisbane city.
The festival will be filled with three and four hour workshops with fibre artists from Australia and NZ, so you can learn to weave traditional NZ Maori baskets, coil baskets, weave flax flowers, learn the art of felting, macrame, crochet, make wool fibre wall hangings, natural dyeing techniques, create your own paper with natural fibre and many more. We will also be offering some Wellbeing Workshops that include meditation and sound healing.
Numbers are strictly limited to 200, so we can allow you and the workshop facilitators to really connect and engage while learning their craft.
This is also an 18+ event.
You also get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings by swimming or relaxing by the pool, join in our daily yoga sessions, go on a guided walk in the rain forest or just relax under a tree and read a book. We will also have a nightly bonfire, live entertainment, a meet the makers night with wine and cheese, art exhibition, cultural performance and much more.
All accommodation and meals are also provided. Our meals are professionally catered, prepared fresh and sourced locally, so you can feel looked after and nurtured during your stay.
This is more than a festival, this is a place where we want you to make long lasting connections and friendships.
