Quartz is an incredibly robust mineral able to survive through the harshest of conditions due to its great physical and chemical resistance. Natural Quartz develops in silica-rich hydrothermal environments at very high temperatures and pressures, forming free-floating tetrahedral crystals that grow layer by layer and eventually collide to form clusters.
The rare configuration of this cluster with hundreds of small, interleaved crystals only forms when the temperature and pressure fall very quickly as a result of an unusual geological event, allowing the solution to saturate and provide the perfect environment for new crystals to grow.
