Details
This beautiful Himalayan blackberry weaving is handwoven from natural materials: Himalayan Blackberry, recycled cotton and Merino wool.
Perfect for hanging in your favourite space, or as a cluster with a variety of natural wall art pieces of different textures, depths and sizes.
I wove this piece whilst housesitting a beautiful place on Bowen Island in BC taking care of animals and gardens. Every time I took a piece of blackberry out of the garden to keep it from overtaking I laid it flat on the huge deck overlooking the ocean, let the sun bleach and dry it, said thanks to mumma nature, and was reinspired to keep creating special pieces of art to adorn special places.
Preparation of the materials alone was a beautiful experience, taking a lot of patience and time which allowed me to reflect and collect my thoughts over a slow paced process, giving in to not being able to speed it up, eventually letting go of thoughts all together, weaving and dropping into a lovely meditation each time I sat to weave.
This piece represents the practice of emptying thoughts, patience, commitment, gratitude and dedication to a slow process, allowing it to become a meditation.
Heart work, home adornment for conversion and love.

The Process
This basket was made using the coiling technique dating back 10,000 years ago, leaving a strong sense of connection to ancestors, past lives, family and community and the self. With each stitch connecting to the next passing round and round, every time something new is woven it creates a new journey bringing amazing energy and growth. This particular basket when woven was used to create a meditative state to bring peace to the maker that carries over to the baskets owner.
